Ragamuffin was a worker aboard the Lux Deluxe as well as a dancer specializing in tap dancing. He was kind, sweet and humble, but struggled to pronounce certain words, such as "Rarity" and wasn't particularly romantic. He bore a noticeable resemblance to Applejack.
History[edit]
Ragamuffin speaks with a cockney accent, however he dropped it on the beach in front of Rarity (with Applejack coming over to comfort her afterwards). This makes it unclear how much of him is an act, however he doesn't appear to harbor and malicious intent in doing so.
Given Ragamuffin's accent, it was possible he was not from Equestria, or perhaps, just a different region of the country, as the borders of Equestria and its relationship with the greater world have never been revealed. Ragamuffin may have come from a poor background, given the status of his father's job as a coal miner.
Despite his roots, Ragamuffin aspired to be a dancer. He met Rarity aboard the Lux Deluxe as one of its many crew members. In their first meeting, Ragamuffin helped carry around Rarity's goods and clothing. When he finally met Rarity's friends, they didn't see what was romantic with his help and shrugged it off. When the power blew on the ship, Ragamuffin entertained the startled guests with his dancing. Once his crowd died down, he and Rarity shared an intimate moment where he told her of his lifestory, but the moment was ruined by Rainbow Dash who dragged Rarity away before he could even react.
When the ship began to sank, Ragamuffin was eventually saved by the Equestria Girls, who finally embraced their roles as superheroes and was eventually sailed away to the Magic island. On the island, Rarity gave him dramatic advice over his future as a dancer, quoting Dazzle in the process claiming that he could rise from the coal to become a diamond. Despite how dramatic the advice was, Ragamuffin simply proclaimed it was the best advice he heard, and walked off.[1]
During the holiday season, he was shopping at Canterlot Mall, implying he may have lived in Canterlot.[2]
Personality[edit]
Ragamuffin was a very friendly, hardworking and cheerful individual with a good heart and happy disposition. He had difficulty pronouncing certain words, but always tried to get it right. He was helpful to others, especially Rarity, who he held in high regard. Although he may have had feelings for her, his nature was not of a passionate lover and so he didn't pursue her as much as she pursued him. He loved to perform in front of others and was an especially talented dancer. His dance show drew in much more visitors than Trixie Lulamoon's magic show.
Behind the scenes[edit]
Ragamuffin was portrayed by Jason Michas, a voice actor with work spanning back to the early 1980s and also appeared in DEATH BATTLE as the voice of Bucky O'Hare.
Joke[edit]
His resemblance to Applejack may be a reference older versions of Equestria Girls: Rollercoaster of Friendship which revealed Applejack and Rarity were both in love. Later, the writers introduced the character Dirk Thistleweed, who filled a similar role as Ragamuffin for Applejack.
