Chapter 3

Chapter 3 is the third chapter of My Little Pony: The Manga's second volume. The chapter stars Pinkie Pie as she finds that her strange situation is even stranger than she at first thought.

Pinkie Pie awakens back in her own bed, but remains convinced that the townsponies are pranking her and decides to try and outwait them. However, after more than a week in which events continue to repeat themselves with the Festival of the Lunar Cycle never arriving, Pinkie Pie breaks down and tries to convince Applejack to end the prank. However, Applejack has no idea what she's talking about, and continues to insist that the Great Cake Bake is being held the next day. Driven to desperation, Pinkie Pie decides that the only answer is to prank everyone in Ponyville in retaliation for the prank she remains convinced they are playing on her.

Pinkie Pie decides that the best method of achieving her aims is to draw mustaches on everpony's face while they're asleep, using ink that lasts for two days. However, after enacting her plan during the night, she finds the next day that her handiwork has vanished, and Applejack continues to assert that the Great Cake Bake is happening the following day. After Pinkie explains the bizarre situation to her, Applejack suggests that Pinkie Pie hide and observe Ponyville's inhabitants to see if they continue to repeat the same actions even when she's not present. Pinkie Pie does so, and finds that events are indeed repeating just as they have been for the past week.

At first, Pinkie believes that she has indeed been wrong about the entire town pranking her, until she believes that by telling Applejack her suspicions she's clued in the pranksters and that they might be continuing their attempts to trick her. In an attempt to find out whether or not she is in fact the victim of an elaborate practical joke, Pinkie goes to Sweet Apple Acres and devours a number of apples right off the trees. The next day, she returns to the orchard to find that the apples she ate are now untouched, and thus deduces-in a roundabout way-that she is stuck in a time loop.
