Chapter 2 is the second chapter of My Little Pony: The Manga's second volume. The chapter stars Pinkie Pie as she and her friends prepare for Ponyville's Festival of the Lunar Cycle.

Story

Pinkie Pie excitedly wakes up at Sugarcube Corner the day before the Festival of the Lunar Cycle, and meets Applejack passing by with a cartload of apples. As Applejack explains, the Apple family is hosting an apple bobbing event for this year's festival with a prize for the winner. Apple Bloom, who is disqualified from competing due to her family hosting the event, is then seen coaching Scootaloo and Sweetie Belle in hopes that one of them might be able to win. After she and her sister discuss the matter, Apple Bloom accidentally sends Applejack's cart rolling down a hill, where the apples bury Dr. Hooves...or so it appears.

Pinkie next pays a visit to the Carousel Boutique, where Rarity is working on a line of dessert-inspired dresses for the festival. Rarity quickly expels the sugar-loving Pinkie, who then bursts in on Twilight in the midst of investigating an ancient Mesoponytamian puzzle sphere. As Twilight explains, no one has ever been able to unlock the artifact, and it seems that no one ever will as it accidentally rolls off of Twilight's table and crashes to the floor. Pinkie then finds Fluttershy and Rainbow Dash practicing for the festival's three-winged race, which they lost last year when Fluttershy was panicked by a loud noise and flew backwards from the finish line. Pinkie Pie suggests trying to use Fluttershy's panic speed to their advantage, and pops a balloon in an attempt to help them-only for Fluttershy to launch herself and Rainbow Dash straight up into an overhead cloud.

Pinkie Pie then hits upon the strategy of putting cotton in Fluttershy's ears in hopes that it will muffle any loud sounds that might terrify her. Unfortunately, this works a bit too well, as Fluttershy is now unable to hear anything. As Pinkie continues to try and help the pair, she takes advantage of a lemonade stand that Davenport has constructed from quill feathers and sofa cushions to soften a crash landing. That night, Pinkie Pie settles down for bed, eagerly anticipating the festival, which she proclaims only "something really mondo bizzaro" could prevent her from enjoying. However, as she sleeps that night, a strange distortion passes through the town, though with no obvious effects.
