Robots are a type of machine created to carry out advanced tasks, usually in the likiness of of ponies, humans, dogs or other species.

In the far, far distant future, past the point of "Spoilers", robotic ponies and alien ponies would rule Equestria.[1] Much earlier, a dream therapy session with Princess Luna caused Applejack's conflicting desire to both embrace and shin modern improvements to manifest in her mind as the Dream Robots.[2]
Beings known as "Transformers" appear as toys and pop-culture icons from time to time.[3][4][5] One such Transformer named Megatron once got transported to the land of Unicorn when he was trying to meet another Transformer, Unicron[6] Another such Transformer named Sideways once got in a fight with Discord[7] and other, named Vector Prime, recognized Tirek as among the greatest evils to ever exist.[8]

Both Foggy Blue and Twilight Sparkle built robotic dogs, with the former building one with Hornet during the Canter-Crys science fair and the latter doing it as a favor for Spike, her actual dog, to be his companion.
