Human (Friendship is Magic)

To say Humans scarcely appear in My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic is a bit of an understatement. Human and human biology has sometimes been used as a meta-joke, such as when Dr. Hooves wondered what the "man" Jeff Letrotski kept going on about[1] or when Rainbow Dash wondered what "hands" were in reference to human anatomy. This article will go over humans as they appear in the land of Equestria and Friendship is Magic works.

Relation to ponies

Outside of trips to the Equestria Girls universe, Humans and ponies have only interacted on a handful of known occasions. The first known instance was in the Little Pony TV series, where Twilight Sparkle was shown to be friends with a young woman from Japan named Mimorin. The other occonsion was seen throughout the bonus artwork featured in Synergy: A Hasbro Creators Showcase, where ponies were seen hanging out with members of The Holograms, The Misfits and G.I. Joe. The only meaningful interaction seen in this was an artpiece by Sarah Leuver where members of the Mane Six took selfies with The Holograms. The third one, which barely counts, was seen in the short comic story, "When Worlds Collide", which featured Twilight, Pinkie Pie and Rarity battling against Cobra Commander as they aided the Autobots in order to save the world from Megatron. In the same story, they gained the aid of members of G.I. Joe and Uncle Pennybags.

They have also had interactions in a few commercials. In Are You Ready For The Summer?, Dan Mandel, Megatron and Pinkie Pie all sung about the summer, while in Hub Network's Summer Anthem, the ponies visited a pool party with several humans, such as Tony Stark, Bruce Banner, Guy Hamdon and more. In these commercials, humans and mostly human characters have appeared, such as Kai and the Green Eyed Werewolf. Despite some of these more antagonistic entities, ponies are generally shown to be on good terms with humans.

Stories about humans

In biographical and non-fiction stories, humans have obviously appeared. This was the case with The Stage, which was a short comic story about Katie Cook's relationship with My Little Pony

Ponies as metafiction

Friendship is Magic has sometimes been alluded to being "metafiction", fiction that's self-aware enough to realize it's not real. While this is mostly done through fourth-wall breaks and cute gags, the series has conversely been treated as fiction in other Hasbro properties. In IDW Publishing's Jem and the Holograms series, several ponies such as Rainbow Dash, Fluttershy and Sunset Shimmer have been allueded to being fictional characters in human societies. Sometimes, official My Little Pony products can imply such things too, such as with the Stranger Things Upside Down Applejack figure, which implied that My Little Pony was a toyline enjoyed by a girl named Erica, who was being harassed by a boy named Dustin Henderson who claimed she was a "nerd".

April Fools

Two known Hub April Fools commercials involved humans. The first of which, My Little Joanie involved combinations between the Happy Days cast and Friendship is Magic. The other was My Little Pony: Dragonfire, which starred Spike as a human astronaut fighting to protect his people against the Discord of the universe.

In toys

Bishoujo Statues

At least two Friendship is Magic toylines involve humans. The older of which was known as HEART MLP and starred six young people who were hopelessly obsessed with Friendship is Magic and decided to dress up as their favorite characters, while the latter Bishoujo Statues featured human forms of the Mane Six.

Other instances

Live-action humans appeared in the Chinese opening for Friendship is Magic[2]

Children have also of course appeared in various commercials playing with the products and interacting with the characters.

Megan Williams was mentioned in The Fall of Sunset Shimmer in a book entitled "Who Was Megan?".
