Dream Robots
The Dream Robots are a group of robots that appeared in a dream Applejack experienced during a dream therapy session with Princess Luna.
History
Following her latest altercation with Flim and Flam, Applejack found herself particularly perturbed by their latest attempt to sell Sweet Apple Acres one of their gadgets. Having had Princess Luna's therapy recommended to her by Twilight Sparkle, Applejack approaches the princess and is brought into a guided dream meditation in order to confront her feelings. The experience soon finds Applejack in a Sweet Apple Acres where she was apparently convinced to allow Flim and Flam to build a robot factory. She finds that her home is overrun by Living Apples and Cyber Ponies, and is unexpectedly joined in her efforts to oppose these foes by several of the Dream Robots.
More specifically, robots based on the Mane Six-including Applejack herself-and Princesses Celestia, Luna, and Cadance assist Applejack as she battles the dream versions of Flim and Flam and their allies. In response, Flim and Flam unleash robotic versions of Lord Tirek, Queen Chrysalis, and Grogar. Both Applejack and the brothers are baffled by the robots who assist her, whom the brothers reveal are not part of their product line. Applejack grows increasingly frustrated by the automatons despite their help, due to her strong independent streak.
Eventually, however, Robo Twilight Sparkle explains to Applejack that the robots modeled after her friends are a response to her own subconscious desires for help. Applejack, as it turns out, had resisted certain helpful modernizations because part of her feared that she herself would be rendered obsolete. However, as the robot Twilight helps her see, machines are merely tools to assist her. With this clarification, Applejack is able to achieve victory alongside her mechanical allies, and after awakening from her dream feels more comfortable with the idea of adding machinery to Sweet Apple Acres.
