:NOTE: This section is based on content exclusive to the 10th Anniversary Edition of the issue.

In the time period seen in The Last Problem, an adult Spike is at a signing for in-universe versions of the IDW Publishing Friendship is Magic comics, of which he is the author. When the presenter opens up a Q&A portion of the event, Spike is confronted by a disgruntled “fan.” Much to the disgust of the rest of the audience, this pony accosts Spike regarding the many apparent inconsistencies in the comics, from timeline issues to the conflicting accounts regarding King Sombra and the nature of Kelpies.

Calmly, Spike explains that he set out to write the comics many years ago. Working on them alone, he was forced to address events as they occurred and occasionally to fill in gaps where he lacked knowledge about particular topics. Furthermore, Spike notes that he didn’t feel like all the things that happened to him and his friends were worth telling. However, the majority of the audience support Spike and his work, regardless of “flaws.”

Chatting with the presenter afterwards, Spike learns that she likes to think of his comics as “party canon.” This means that, whether they match historical accounts or not, they’re still enjoyable. Liking the idea, Spike goes to visit his old friend Mina. The pair chat about the signing, and are shown to have amassed a collection of souvenirs from the various adventures Spike detailed in his comics.
