My Little Pony: The Movie is an animated Movie based on the media franchise My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic.

Plot

After the events of the seventh season of My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic, all the ponies in the land of Equestria prepare for their first Festival of Friendship, overseen by Princess Twilight Sparkle in Canterlot. However, the festival is interrupted when monsters led by Tempest Shadow (Tempest in Latin America), a unicorn with a short horn, invade Canterlot. Tempest uses magical obsidian stones to petrify Twilight's princess sisters; Princess Celestia gives Princess Luna incomplete instructions to seek help from "the queen of hiccups ..." before they are both petrified. Twilight flees the city with her five pony friends, Pinkie Pie, Rainbow Dash, Rarity, Applejack and Fluttershy, and her dragon assistant, Spike. Tempest is contacted by her superior, King Storm (Storm King in Latin America), who reminds her that she gathers all the princesses of Equestria to take advantage of her magic through her magic scepter, promising her in return. to restore her horn.

Twilight and her friends travel to the deserted city of Klugetown in search of the aforementioned "hippos." A feline con man named Capper offers to escort the group, secretly intending to sell them to pay off a debt; however, he develops a genuine friendship with them. Twilight discovers a map that reveals that the "hippos" are actually hippogriffs, exposing Capper's betrayal. After the group evades Tempest by chasing them aboard a delivery aircraft, manned by a group of birds commanded by Captain Celaeno. Tempest takes Capper away to guide him towards them, but deliberately sends him to spy to deceive the group.

During a lunch break, Captain Celaeno and her ship's crew reluctantly allow the group to pass, revealing themselves as former pirates who have been forced into the service of the Storm King. Rainbow Dash persuades the pirates to defy Storm's orders and lead the group to the kingdom of the Hippogriffs on Mount Aris. In celebration, she performs her sonic rainplosion that inadvertently gives Tempest her current location, forcing Twilight and her friends to escape in a makeshift hot air balloon before Tempest destroys the ship with the pirates and Capper on board. .

The group reaches Mount Aris, only to find it deserted. While exploring the ruins, they are trapped in an underwater cavern, where they are saved from drowning by Princess Skystar and taken to her underwater home of Seaquestria. Skystar identifies her species as hippogriffs, transformed by a magical pearl used by her mother, Queen Novo, to hide from King Storm; Novo proves her friendship by turning ponies into hippocampi and Spike into a puffer fish. When Novo refuses them the pearl to use against King Storm, Twilight desperately tries to steal it while she lets her friends inadvertently distract the sea ponies from her. She unwittingly sets off the alarm, causing the outraged queen to banish the entire group to the surface.

Abandoned by her friends because of her actions, Twilight is kidnapped by Tempest and brought before King Storm in Canterlot to absorb her magic. Along the way, Tempest earns Twilight's sympathy when she tells him how she lost her horn in an attack by a minor bear when she was a filly, causing hers to reject her own friends for now. dangerous and unstable magic of her. Meanwhile, after Spike alerts Twilight's friends to her capture, Capper, the pirates, and the hippogriff Skystar return to help them infiltrate Canterlot and mount a rescue. King Storm, for his part, uses the power of his scepter to drain Twilight's magic and that of the other princesses, granting her massive power and control over the sun and moon; and he retaliates by conjuring a cyclone on the city with his newly empowered scepter. Tempest asks him to fulfill her part of her bargain and restore her horn from her, but he reveals that he was only using her and attacks her, betraying her as well; but Twilight saves Tempest from the cyclone. Rainbow Dash, Applejack, Fluttershy, Pinkie Pie, Rarity, and Spike are shot out of a party cannon and collide with The Storm King. Twilight meets with her friends, who after reconciling work with her to take the scepter from her. As the magic of the scepter spirals out of control, King Storm and Twilight rush to claim it, and both are sucked into the storm. Soon the two return to dry land, and Storm tries to turn the ponies and the dragon into obsidian stones; but Tempest notices, jumps in the middle of her attack and both are petrified, causing the body of King Storm to fall from the balcony of the castle; then shatter into pieces, while the group uses the magic of the scepter to revive Tempest. The Friendship Festival resumes, and the ponies celebrate with all the allies Twilight's group has made on their adventure. Tempest is discouraged with her horn still broken until Twilight convinces her to join the party by producing a fireworks show with her magic for the Friendship Festival, happily accepting the group's friendship, and reveals that her real name is Fizzlepop Berrytwist. , much to Pinkie Pie's excitement.

Literature

Several books were produced for the film, such as the four novels printed under the Beyond Equestria, all of which focus on expanding characters, places, and groups that were featured in the film. Other books were released as well, most were however simple activity books. Additionally, the film received two novelizations, for slightly different age demographics. River Horse, the company that produces the My Little Pony: Tails of Equestria series of game books produced Tails of Equestria: The Official Movie Sourcebook, which expanded upon the history of Klugetown and Mount Aris while also shedding light on the new species featured (primarily the Parrots) and contained short-stories set in the world of the film.

In addition to the books and novels, IDW Publishing produced a mini-series of comics entitled My Little Pony: The Movie Prequel, which told stories leading up to the film, starring Capper, Celaeno, and the Storm King respectively.
