Meghan McCarthy is an American writer, producer and lyricist who served as the second showrunner for My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic, taking over after Lauren Faust left production and was succeeded by "Big" Jim Miller". Since June 2015, McCarthy has received the title of Head of Storytelling for both My Little Pony and its sister franchise, Littlest Pet Shop.
McCarthy has previously worked with Faust as early as 2004 when she worked as a writer for Foster's Home For Imaginary Friends, which was her debut writing credit. In 2006 when production wrapped up, McCarthy would work on the cult hit Class of 3000 (both featuring Phil LaMarr). Beginning in 2010, she would begin her career with Hasbro on Friendship is Magic and eventually its spin-offs.
Often paired with Lauren Faust, Jim Miller, Daniel Ingram, Tara Strong and M.A. Larson as the people who made Friendship is Magic the major success it was, McCarthy consistently wrote for the first six seasons of the show and has served as producer for the majority of its films and specials up to My Little Pony: A New Generation in 2021.
