Marigold Lake is a lake located in the Great Valley River, which stretches across all of Equestria, but is situated in Ponyville.
History
Presumably every Winter Wrap Up, the lake freezes over, becoming a glacial area. In this times, Twilight Sparkle and the girls have gone ice skating on its surface. During Twilight and Spike's first wrap up in Ponyville, Spike ended up falling asleep on a loan glacier and fell into the freezing cold water below, getting a cold in the process.
