Orphan Birds are a species of birds who live in the Foal Mountains of Equestria.

Biology and behavior

According to Miss Cheerilee, when Orphan Bird mothers lay their eggs, they put them in water. The "good" eggs stay afloat while the "bad" eggs sink. They survive this process, but have to take care of themselves with no maternal figure in their life. Orphan Birds seem to be rather mean-spirited creatures, as they splashed Cheerilee's class with a large waterfall for looking at their young.
