The Abysmal Abyss was a chasm and cliff in Griffonstone. The place was infamous for being where the Arimaspi of the Griffon Continent met its doom while carrying the Idol of Boreas, losing the artifact for thousands of years.

History

During the reign of the last King of Griffonstone, King Guto, the bridge that connected the sides of the abyss was destroyed, causing the creature to fall to its death, loosing the artifact. Years later in the Era of Twilight, Rainbow Dash and Pinkie Pie went to Griffonstone on a friendship mission only for the two to ultimately go about their quest in different ways. Dash went to explore the Abyss after purchasing supplies from Gimmie Moore, ultimately getting trapped in the abyss when the up-flow made it difficult for her to fly.

She was eventually rescued by Pinkie Pie and Gilda who nearly saved the Idol as well, but realized Dash was more important to her than the Idol ever was.

In My Little Pony: Magic Princess, the Abysmal Abyss is a house located in Ponyville. It serves as the residence of Arimaspi.
