The Basement of shame is a place located in Canterlot Library, noted for where the Grossly Overdue Book Return Office for Ponies Who Should Know Better is. The Canterlot Library librarian scornfully told Twilight and Spike to go into the basement to check with First Folio as they were many years overdue in returning Perfection: The Impossible Pursuit.
Behind the scenes
The basement was just referred to as basement, but the librarian quickly added "because of the shame" when she angrily told Twilight to go into it. It appeared in the season 9 episode of My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic, "The Point of No Return".
