King Grover was the first king of Griffonstone and the griffon who established the realm's golden age.
History
Grover found the Idol of Boreas and was crowned King of Griffonstone in the process, transforming the realm from a place of greedy hoarders to a peaceful and productive kingdom with a strong cultural tradition.[1] His magical crown also apparently played a role in his success.[2] Many years after his death, Griffons used his name as an expression, similarly to Princess Celestia.[3]
Etymology
Grover is a name found in both English and Hindi languages, but has different meanings in both. In English, it means one who lives near a grove and cognates with "Grüber" while in Hindi, it translates to teacher or mentor. In the context of the show, it was likely just picked because it started with "G".
