Balkham Asylum is a psychiatric facility/prison in Maretropolis, known to have housed-at one time or another-some of the city’s most infamous supervillains.

History

The Mane-Iac, Phony Pharaoh, High Heel, Long-Face, and Smudge were all inmates of the facility on at least one occasion. Having each suffered separate defeats at the hooves of the Power Ponies, the criminals proved willing to form an alliance with the tentative name of League of Villainy. Their escape was enabled by Shadowmane, whom the Mane-Iac had already enlisted in her scheme, who broke in to the facility. The six then broke out and set their sights on revenge, only to eventually be defeated and reimprisoned, presumably at the asylum.

In other media

In My Little Pony: Magic Princess, Balkham Asylum appears in Ponyville as the home of all the members of the League of Villainy except Mane-Iac, who was added to the game in an earlier update. Curiously, it is also home to the Anugyptian Retainer.
