Manehattan

Manehattan is a large, modern city located in the Celestial Sea in the northern portions of Eastern Equestrian.

History

Manehattan was founded in the Celestial Sea quite some time ago.[1] The city appears to have a strong cultural legacy with many landmarks such as a Statue of Liberty[2] and the State Building.[3] The city is located close to Fillydelphia and is occasionally ascioated with it as a similar destination, along with Foaledo.[4] The large city is protected by the superhero known only as the "Caped Wonder", not to unlike the infamous Mare-Do-Well of Ponyville fame.[5] At some point in the past, Babs Seed was born in Manehattan.[6]

Culture

Manehattan has its own newspaper, Equestria Daily.[7] The city is very famous and is the home of many celebrties, such as Sapphire Shores.[8]

Manehattan was among the first non-Ponyville or Canterlot cities mentioned in Friendship is Magic. In the earlier episodes and comics, it was a common running gag to corrupt real world (usually American or Canadian) cities with pony/horse puns, though Manehattan was among the first to have an actual impact of the show. Manehattan is named after Manhattan, though has essentially become a stand in for all of New York City with stand-ins for locations in Brooklyn appearing in Manehattan.
