Queen of Equestria is the highest title in the post-Reign of the Royal Sisters Equestria. So far, the only known queen has been Twilight Sparkle, who had previously ruled as the Princess of Friendship. However, the role was functionally filled by Princess Celestia at least during the period of Princess Luna’s confinement on the Moon. Indeed, this may have been the reason for Lord Gestal addressing her as Queen, though her own subjects used the title of Princess.
