"Griffon the Brush-Off' is the 5th episode of the first season of My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic. It introduces Gilda, the shows first griffon character into the show. The title is a pun of "given the brush-off."

Synopsis

Pinkie Pie gushes about Rainbow Dash to Twilight Sparkle. When Pinkie sees Rainbow flying above, she chases her into a cliff face; afterwards, she chases her around town. The two then perform a series of pranks: they shoot lightning right next to Spike, giving him the hiccups; they give Rarity a bundle of flowers laced with sneeze-powder; they replace Twilight Sparkle's ink with invisible ink; and they paint all the apples in Sweet Apple Acres. Pinkie interrupts a prank that would've targeted Fluttershy, instead pranking Rainbow herself.

The next day, Pinkie goes to Rainbow's Cloudominium to find Gilda, a griffon, hanging out with Rainbow. The two were childhood friends, and they opt to fly with each other rather than hang out with Pinkie. When Pinkie follows them—first with balloons, next with a flying machine—Gilda tells her to "buzz off." Pinkie consults Twilight, but is told to improve her attitude; this leaves Pinkie frustrated. She then witnesses Gilda do a series of mean acts—including bullying Fluttershy. , filled with pranks targeting Gilda.

Pinkie throws a welcome party for Gilda. A series of light pranks enrages Gilda; Rainbow tells Gilda that she had set up the pranks, and tells her to leave the party. In Twilight's friendship report, she writes that one shouldn't be jealous of friends that want to hang out with their other friends.
