Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (TMNT for short) is a media franchise consisting of comic books, films, cartoons, anime/manga, video games, and pretty much any piece of media you can think of. The series dates back to 1984 mostly as a joke about how comics have been getting darker and darker, while the goofy premises stayed the same, as the comic was brutally graphic, yet with silly premises for characters and villains.
As the series' comic liscenses got picked up by IDW Publishing, references and talent crossover has happened between both franchises.
