Belle family
The Belle family is a family that exist across the multiverse. The family is perhaps most noteworthy for being the family where Rarity and Sweetie Belle hail from.
Background
Like with most cross-multiversal families, the Belle family has a generally consistent history across known realities. The patriarch of the family, Hondo Flanks, appears to be a somewhat rustic man with a love for fishing and straw-hats and by contrast, his wife, Cookie Crumbles appears to be a ritzy, rich socialite. It's unclear how the two met, but at some point they gave had two daughters, Sweetie Belle and Rarity.
History
Friendship is Magic
Very little of the background and history of the family is known. Hondo, Cookie and Sweetie Belle live in the Belle residence by Tranquility Lake in a fairly secluded area of Ponyville. They at least gave birth to Rarity in Ponyville, though the birthplace of Sweetie Belle is unclear. Although Hondo and Cookie seem to love their children, they've curiously been absent for important events in both of their daughters life events, such as Sweetie Belle's 5th birthday.
At some point, presumably after Sweetie Belle's 5th birthday, Rarity moved out and either founded or acquired Carousel Boutique which also became her house. Sweetie Belle would sometimes visit her, but never appeared to be a truly welcomed guest until the Sisterhooves Social.
Equestria Girls
The family appears to be quite wealthy, as Rarity and Sweetie Belle appear to have their own personal drivers to drive them to different places. They live in a quite big sized house. For a brief period, the two sisters had a rocky relationship after Rarity shooed her sister out of her party with her friends, but the two reconciled afterwards.[1]
Other media
Of course members of the family have appeared in pretty much every conceivable media, though not much has been expanded upon the family in these stories. In the IDW Publishing continuity, the family helped Rarity battle against the Umbrum and Sweetie and Rarity both appear in A Day in the Life of Equestria.
