In the June of 2021, Hudgens was announced to portray the lead character, Sunny Starscout in the then-upcoming My Little Pony: A New Generation film. After appearing in several promotional items and behind-the-scenes media, Hudgens stepped down from the role and was replaced with Jenna Warren.
