An actor, to put it simply, is a person who portrays a fictional character or fictional depiction of themselves. In the context of My Little Pony, an actor almost always, but not always, refers to a voice actor or a dubbing actor who provides voice-over for cartoons, video games and other media, though a small handful of on-camera and actors have appeared through the franchises sparse live-action sequences.

Celebrity actors

A small, but notable, amount of celebrity actors have appeared in My Little Pony, primarily in the 4th generation, but some in the 1st generation. While many voice actors who are famous within the field, such as Tara Strong, Peter Cullen, Frank Welker and Rob Paulson have appeared, a small handful of actors who are famous outside of the field, such as musicians and on-camera cameras have appeared. Some of these actors include "Weird Al" Yankovic, Danny DeVito, Rhea Perlman, Patton Oswalt, Meredith Salenger, William Shatner, Uzo Aduba and Sia.

In foreign dubs, particularly Eastern European dubs such as the Czech, Polish and Hungarian dubs, many voices are provided by locally famous actors and opera singers.

Foreign dub celebrities

Several foreign dubs have local celebrities as the voices. Many of these celebrities tend to be actors for live-action shows or theatrical productions (this is more common in European dubs), or even locally famous singers. For example D8 is a well-known singer in Portugal and voices Capper. In some dubs, such as the Indonesian dub, had local celebrities to appear in the 2017 film, but not in the main show.

Actors portraying themselves

A few instances of actors portraying themselves in fiction have occurred over the franchises run. One such instance was in the Japanese television show, Little Pony TV, the Japanese Idol group Amakuchi HKT48 appeared portraying themselves in the fictional context of the show.

Make-A-Wish Foundation actors

About three people, though only two have been idenfied, have appeared in My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic via the Make-A-Wish Foundation. These figures include Alexis Heule who portrayed Angel Wings and Sylvain-Nicholas LeVasseur-Portelance who played Stellar Eclipse.
