Ponyville was a small town in Equestria, near the summit of Canterlot Mountain. Due to its proximity with the capital and for being the residency of the Mane Six, Ponyville went from being a quant village to arguably the most important city in all of Equestria.

History

Ponyville was founded by Sew 'n Sow and Pokey Oaks sometime about 100 years prior to Twilight Sparkle moving into the town. Initially a humble homestead for a wayward branch of the Apple family, Ponyville evolved into a modest metropolis with the help of Stinkin' Rich and the Rich family thanks to their shops, forever entwining the two families.

Culture

Historically an Earth Pony town, much of Ponyville's culture was defined in rustic Earth Pony traditions, such as a general lack of magic and more physical labors. Despite this, Ponyville had diverse demographics, being extremely close to both Cloudsdale and Canterlot, hubs of pegasus and unicorn culture. Because of its location, it was rather common for ponies to live in Ponyville but work or receive their education in nearby towns.
