My Little Pony #4 is the 4th issue of My Little Pony. It is the second issue in the character-spotlight section of the "Return to Canterlot" arc, and focuses on Pipp Petals struggling with how she should show her fans her more vulnerable side.

Synopsis

During one of her live-streaming sessions, Pipp tells her adoring fans that her next update will be a blog post about Discord rather than her usual vlogs...much to their horror. Pipp puts her heart and soul into the blog, spending around 10 hours writing it, in seemingly one session. It gets 100,000 views, 99,000 likes, and 6,000 comments, which inspires her to write another blog, one that's far more personal, about her experiences, anxieties, and guilt from when she had to lie to her peers about being able to fly.

She video calls her mother, Queen Haven about the matter. This shocked her mother who didn't want her to write about such a hard day in her life, but soon came around after hearing her daughter talk about how she wanted to help people realize it's okay to be sad. Her mother ended the chat by saying that, if it didn't turn out well, that she was always welcomed back at their place.

Pipp gets to writing, but as she finishes, she feels uneasy about posting. She decides to sleep on it and ask her friends early in the morning. Alas, she oversleeps and wakes up at 12:00. She immediately gets up and finds Sunny to ask, but Sunny tells her she's too caught up in the Discord business to be of help, and she should ask Hitch at the Street Fair. When Pipp gets to the fair, Hitch is help setting it up, and tells her that he's concerned that her blog would be far too off brand for her, though Pipp says that it can change to reflect her feelings too.

Next, Pipp went to Izzy for advice. Izzy told her it was a brave idea, telling her most embarrassing story in front of over a million ponies, an idea that concerned Pipp. Next and finally, Pipp went to her sister, Zipp, who told her that she thought it was a great idea...but...worried that it would spark insecurity in Pipp, knowing her much she cares what others think of her, and tells her it be best to have a distance between herself and her fans to protect her emotions, even at the cost of betraying who she is. As the night ends, both sisters go to bed unhappily.

In a moment of anger, Pipp posts the blog anyway...only for it to not do well. Within a week, it barely garners over 300 views. Believing Hitch and Zipp were right, she decides to delete the post, but gets a message at the last second, from a young girl named Felicity. Felicity recently moved to Maretime Bay from Bridlewood and worried about being unable to make friends, decided to make up several lies about herself and the town, saying she loved sky diving, had a pet dragon and sphinx, and that the town was made of cotton candy.

Her lies caught up to her, of course, and she was ostracized by her friends and classmates, but after reading the blog, she built up the courage to apologies and be more real to those around her.

Pipp, extremely happy that she was able to help someone improve their life, fell asleep happily and shot a vlog in the morning to tell her fans that she made mistakes and was worried that ponies wouldn't accept her, but was reminded to be herself from Felicity, and sometimes being yourself is enough.

Errors and oddities

  • Not inherently an error, but the sphinx in the imagination sequence looks nothing like how sphinxes in Generation 4 tended to look.
