Platinum was born in the [[Unicorn Kingdom]] and was the only known child of [[King Bullion]]. Her life was contemporaneous with [[Starswirl the Bearded]], as her assistant, [[Clover the Clever]], was friends with the elder. She was born in the [[Pre-Equestrian age]] and served as one of the monarchs for her kingdom during the [[Long Winter period]]. As food supplies were growing lower, she attended the [[Summit of the three tribes]] to perhaps barter for food and strengthen relations between the kingdoms, but she soon refused to negotiate any deals with her fellow ponies and instead ventured off into the great unknown (roughly the [[Canterlot Valley]] region), though made Clover the Clever carry her as she refused to walk more than five minutes.
She eventually came across [[paradise]] and founded the settlement of [[Unicornia (proposed settlement)|Unicornia]], but alas, the land was settled by [[Commander Hurricane]] and [[Chancellor Puddinghead]]
Despite this agreement, Platinum was less than pleased when Starswirl proposed that the [[Two Sisters]] become monarchs of the new land, and expressed her feelings while visiting the [[Castle of Two Sisters]] with her father. Despite assurances to the contrary, Platinum seemed to view the pair as usurpers, rather than guardians of the now allied realms and their various rulers. Indeed, she felt offended that the two [[Alicorn]]s had been chosen as Princesses of Equestria instead of her. She also made a point of calling out their lacking [[Cutie Marks]], despite the fact that the pair were already centuries older than she was.
{{FIM|Princess Luna}}, her own ire aroused by Platinum’s attitude, decided to respond in kind. She called upon [[Melvin]], a friendly [[Manticore]], who terrified Platinum by his appearance. Platinum soon regained her dignity, and gleefully accepted the chance to sit upon Luna’s throne-only to be dropped down the secret passage underneath it. However, Luna realized she had taken matters too far, while Platinum came to see how badly she herself had been behaving. The two apologized to one another, and became friends, with Platinum providing fine tapestries for the castle and even designing the new Equestrian seal.
Later, Princess Platinum sacrificed her magic to enable her fellow Unicorns to move the {{FIM|Sun}} and {{FIM|Moon}}, only for the magic of all adult Unicorns to be depleted. Fortunately, the Two Sisters discovered their destinies and were able not only to take over this duty, but restore the magic of the Unicorns. Platinum was also pleased to see Luna receive her Cutie Mark at last.
