Paul Bunyan was a legendary lumberjack from the Land of Legends who came into Ponyland after North Star opened the Golden Door. He had a trusty bovine companion in the form of Babe the big blue ox.
Paul was shown to be kind and hard-working, with much stock in his ability to swing an ax. Once his legendary abilities began to fade, he grew distraught that he could no longer swing his ax mightily.
He eventually had to to go back to the Land of Legends, but initially refused because of the Dragon Beast, but he eventually grew accepting of the creature and reentered the land anyway.
