Ian Flynn

Ian Flynn (May 31, 1982) is an American comic book writer best known for his work on Archie's Sonic the Hedgehog comic. In recent years, Flynn has moved on to work for IDW Publishing to work on their take of Sonic the Hedgehog. Flynn is a famous figure in the Sonic the Hedgehog fandom and is often considered the best writer for Sonic comics.

In the May of 2019, it was announced that Flynn would work on a My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic mini-series entitled My Little Pony: Feats of Friendship, with Tony Fleecs as the artist and with JustaSuta and Katie O'Neill as cover artists.

Ian Flynn admitted to watching and liking My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic but "fell behind" after season 1, with "occasional" rewatches. He considers himself a casual fan and had fond memories of the original cartoon, with "You Can't Stop the Smooze" being stuck in his head. In order to prepare himself for writing Feats of Friendship, he checked out a "few wikis" (!!!) to get caught up and watched and read a few episodes and comics in order to make his contribution to the mythos more worthwhile. He claimed his experience working with Tony Fleecs was a posititive one, as he was "super chill" and also said that they worked together prior on a story for Star Wars Adventures.

When asked about the shift, going from Sonic the Hedgehog and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles to My Little Pony, he said that there really wasn't any major difference, all being colorful worlds with magic, but magic in My Little Pony was a more accepted and common thing, making it easier to use in the narrative.
