In their first appearances, the only known gargoyle was {{MLP|Scorpan}}, who was only turned into one due to the [[Rainbow of Darkness]], however, ''Friendship is Magic'' turned gargoyles into their own, separate species that existed side-by-side [[centaurs]] in peace.
