Dusty Pages is a mare from Canterlot, Equestria. She was the librarian at Canterlot Library before the current one.

History

Dusty Pages lived a long, and unfortunately mostly uneventful life prior to moving away from Canterlot. She was obsessed with being "perfect" and failing mistakes that she never really branched out and lived her own life. During this period of her life, she would invite Twilight Sparkle over to her house for tea. After Twilight failed to return a book on time, she realized that perfection was impossible and moved away to Silver Stable Community.

At the retirement home, Dusty Pages began to live a more exciting life. She became a local actress in the homes stage productions - often taking the lead to Apple Rose's annoyance - and became the guitarist in a band. At some point, Twilight Sparkle and Spike located her and tried to get job back at the library, though the surprised Dusty blew up at Twilight and ran off.

Later, in a more calm and understanding mood, Dusty explained to Twilight that she never really lived in the library and was more than happy to live her current, productive life. Though Twilight didn't understand at first, Dusty imparted the wisdom of the book Twilight was so desperate to return to her - that perfection was an impossible pursuit.

Behind the scenes

Dusty Pages appeared in the Season 9 episode of My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic "The Point of No Return" where she was voiced by Ellen Kennedy.

Interestingly, she resembles the librarian seen in the comic story "The Fall of Sunset Shimmer", which took place roughly 10-20 years in the past prior to the events of the show.
