B.J. Ward

Betty Jean Ward (September 16, 1944, professionally known as B.J. Ward, is an American actress, voice actress and singer. She founded the Stand-Up Opera, a one-woman show.

History

Ward was born in Wilmington, Delaware, but grew up in New York City. In the mid 1960s, she married Donald Trenner, but the two got divorced a few years later. In 1995, she married Gordon Hunt and the two remained married until his death in 2016. She made her acting debut in 1960 in the production of The Fantasticks. In 1978, she began her voice-acting career by appearing in Hanna-Barbera's Jana of the Jungle.

Some of her notable roles include Velma Dinkley in various Scooby-Doo productions, Scarlet in G.I. Joe, Betty Rubble in The Flintstones, Violet Gray in The Peanuts and Princess Allura in Voltron; in fact, she voiced all female characters in Voltron with the exception of Queen Merla, who was portrayed by Tress MacNeille.

In the 1980s, she appeared as a voice actress in My Little Pony and did not appear in any future production.
