Friendship is Magic

Rarity was raised in the 80s and adored the fashion when it was new, but found it repulsive when it came back in style, thinking it was backwards to bring back the old, and not innovate for the new.[1]

A store in Ponyville was established in 1982.[2]

The Mane Six were likely born in either the late 1970s or early 1980s, given how Twilight Sparkle was a filly when the year book of the Class of '87 was first published.[3] Spike was probably born in the 80s as well.[4] Shining Armor, Princess Cadance, Moon Dancer, Lyra Heartstrings, Mayor Mare, Cheerilee and several other ponies went to high school in the 80s.[3] Around this time, the musicians HOSS, Bruce Springsteed, Derby, Reign Astley, etc were all quite popular[5] During a Fall Formal in the 80s, Shining Armor finally confessed his love for Cadance, likewise Buck Withers met the mare who would become his future wife, Lemony Gem.[5]

The Rubix Cube came out in the 80s, probably.[6]

At some point, the Mane Six time traveled back to either the late 80s or early 90s and met their younger selves, moments prior to the Rainboom.[7]
