Three official manga were produced for My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic. The earliest, was written and drawn by Akira Himekawa and was serialzed in Pucchigumi, a Japanese girls magazine. The second official manga, The BOOK, a prequel to the 2017 film was produced by Phase 6, a Japanese art studio that has special Japanese editions of the IDW Publishing comics in the past. The final one, and the only one released in English, was My Little Pony: The Manga, by Seven Seas, a manga publishing company.
