Spanning from 2010 to 2019, Generation 4 was inarguably My Little Pony's greatest hit. Spanning three major sub-franchises (Friendship is Magic, Equestria Girls and Pony Life) and a variety of other media, the 4th generation turned the brand into a multi-billion dollar entity.

History

Generation 4 was created by showrunner Lauren Faust with support from her long-term friend and collaborator, Tara Strong, who did all the voice-work in early animation tests. Intended to be a more adventurous, bold and energetic take on the franchise, Generation 4 was created to appeal to girls, boys and their parents thanks to its witty humor and action-packed stories.
