In [[May]] [[2016]], [[Lauren Faust]] made a series of joke tweets about her involvement in ''[[My Little Pony]]'', including one that stated that a [[Friendship is Magic season 1|season 1]] character was transgender. She later rectified her statement by saying that, although her other tweets were jokes, she was serious about the transgender character. This lead the [[Brony|fandom]] to speculate who the transgender pony was, with Caramel being among the primary candidates.
