Forum:Transformers crossover and what it means for the wiki

From Equestripedia, the Archives of Equestria!

Well, Hasbro finally allowed it. Friendship is Magic is officially crossing over with Transformers in an upcoming comic book. While they have technically crossed over before, most notably in "When Worlds Collide", these never really counted. In the first wave of crossovers, it was just artwork and merchandise with no narrative context and a storyline in which they were all toys controlled by people.

This is the first time the two series are officially shown to be apart of the same multiverse. Why is this a big deal? Well aside from the fact that it's one of the first real crossovers in the brands history aside from cameos, it links the My Little Pony and Transformers as being in the same multiverse. You see, while most crossovers are inherently non-canonical affairs, Hasbro put several of its comic book franchises in the same universe, though My Little Pony was explicitly left out for being out of tone with the rest of the franchise.

...However that continuity was, AFAIK, erased in 2018-2019 with the Unicron storyline so IDK anymore. Does anyone know if we should consider IDW 2019 material to be canon, and thus allowed to be on the wiki? I personally say no unless it appears in crossover material because I feel like it would slightly diminish some of the value of the wiki.--Amelia (talk) 12:27, 6 February 2020 (UTC)
