Ferdinand was one of Arial's suitors along with his friend, Andrew.

History

When Arial was cursed by her father to sleep in the castle until someone kissed her, Ferdinand was also cursed and became Salamander, a violent, monstrous guardian of the castle. Along with Undine, he fought to protect the castle from any would-be intruders. However, when Arial's curse was broken by Garth, so to was Ferdinand and Andrew's curse.

Unlike Garth, Ferdinand was a reasonable fellow who understood his boundaries. He knew Arial didn't love him, so he stopped making advances and instead, the two became good friends instead.
