The Mane Six were likely born in either the late [[1970s]] or early 1980s, given how [[Twilight Sparkle]] was a filly when the year book of the [[Class of '87]] was first published.<ref name = "FIM11">{{C|FIM|11}}</ref> Spike was probably born in the 80s as well.<ref>{{CAR|FIM|The Cutie Mark Chronicles}}</ref> [[{{FIM|Shining Armor]]}}, [[{{FIM|Princess Cadance]]}}, [[{{FIM|Moon Dancer]]}}, [[{{FIM|Lyra Heartstrings]]}}, [[Mayor Mare]], [[{{FIM|Cheerilee]]}} and several other ponies went to high school in the 80s.<ref name = "FIM11"/> Around this time, the musicians [[HOSS]], [[Bruce Springsteed]], [[Derby]], [[Reign Astley]], etc were all quite popular<ref name = "FIM12">{{C|FIM|12}}</ref> During a [[Fall Formal]] in the 80s, Shining Armor finally confessed his love for Cadance, likewise [[Buck Withers]] met the mare who would become his future wife, [[Lemony Gem]].<ref name = "FIM12"/>
