The first season of My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic, developed by Lauren Faust, jumpstarted the Fourth Generation of the My Little Pony franchise. Noted for its (relatively) darker themes than the Third Generation, the season was a huge success with both the expected and unexpected demographics, allowing the show to flourish in unforeseen ways. Like the first three seasons, this season lacks any true arcs, but instead retains continuity through character growth and consistency among its main cast -- despite a handful of character arcs that were soon forgotten.
