There is a fan theory that Toffee is not actually an unique character, but {{FIM|Caramel}} post-transition. This theory likely originated in [[2016]] when [[Lauren Faust]] stated that one [[Friendship is Magic season 1|season 1 character]] was transgender in a series of jokes, but when asked, claimed that her mentioning of the trans character was serious.
