:: Thank you for your feedback! I edited the sandbox template to add the parameters you suggested. I wasn't sure how to apply the director field to FiM episodes (I used the supervising director for the example - Jim Miller, in that case). Please let me know if you have any more questions or concerns about it! --SummerShores (talk) 08:27, 11 October 2023 (UTC) |

Potential replacement for this template
I've noticed that every page that uses this template doesn't fit with the parameters set by the template itself - among other things, they all include a transcript
link not supported by the actual template. More pressingly, it will only display properly if the story
and date
parameters are filled out - the former of which seemingly only applies to the comics (already covered by Template:Cite comic book). I tried to fix it, but my testing ran into walls because the template has a huge number of parameters, not all of which seem strictly necessary (especially the various comic-only parameters, like inker
and colorist
).
With all this in mind, I decided to try my hand at making a simpler template (modeled on the aforementioned comic book template) that fits with the existing use cases on my personal sandbox. I was reluctant to replace it entirely, considering it would be a massive change, so I wanted to bring it up here and get some feedback before I made any changes. --SummerShores (talk) 23:09, 7 October 2023 (UTC)
- Sorry for the late reply! I think I just repeated the source code over from the templates not thinking to replace the unused parameters. A lot of our older templates have that issue so I never got around to fixing them (if you've noticed any others, please do let me know). I'm okay with switching over to a more refined template like the one in your sandbox but I think it's missing a few potential fields.
- Writer and Director fields, to be consistent with our other citation templates.
- "Part" field, mostly for generation 1 episodes like "The End of Flutter Valley", which aired in 10 parts.
- Airdate
- Again, thank you for this! I've been needing to fix up our episode articles and things around them for the longest time but kept putting it off for other tasks.--Amelia (talk) 17:47, 10 October 2023 (UTC)
