Very little is known of the history of the Storm Creatures. They were conscripted into the [[Storm King's Realm|Storm Kingdoms]] military in the recent past and were used in several of his conquests.

Storm Creatures are large bipeds, standing more than twice as tall as an average {{FIM|Pony}} and being much bulkier, despite their hunched over appearance. They have gray fur covering much of their bodies, with thick manes of white hair around their heads and matching fur on their long tails. Storm Creatures have three fingers on each hand, one of which can act as a thumb, and three toes on each foot; each of these digits has a claw on the end. They have been compared to [[Yeti]], though some sources identify Storm Creatures as [[Hedgehog]]s.
Most seen Storm Creatures have faces resembling black masks, with gray ridges running down from their foreheads between their blue eyes, which appear to have black sclera. A known exception is the [[Storm Creature General]], whose face more closely resembles that of the Storm King. Unlike the Storm King or most Storm Creatures, the General also has visible ears on top of his head.

Despite their hulking appearance, the Storm Creatures were intelligent beings. They had given names for members of their species and were capable of gentleness and emotion like ponies.
