Tank first appears in season 2 as a very slow but very hopeful tortoise in the Season 2 episode " May the Best Pet Win!" and is named only after being picked as Rainbow Dash's pet. He's first encountered in Fluttershy's backyard among other animals. Fluttershy remarks that he has been dreaming of being somepony's pet for a long while.
Despite rejecting him at first, Tank grows on Rainbow Dash with his tenacity, winning over the falcon who had originally won Rainbow Dash's affections. In the final scene, he is seen with a magic propeller.
