Toys, also known as plastic or figures is the lifeline of the My Little Pony brand. Everything goes back to toys in some capacity. New characters? New toys. New outfits? New variants. New places? New toysets. While some may chose to see this in a cynical way, it's simply the impetus of the corporate side of things, and doesn't necessarily reflect the writers and other contributors of the show, who generally just want to tell engaging stories.
