Mighty Helm captain
The Captain of the Mighty Helm was a title given to those who lead the group and organized training exercises.[1]
Duties
The captain of the Mighty Helm tended to get orders from The Baron, though seemed otherwise free to do what they wished. The captains were to be selfless and brave ponies, willing to risk their own lives, and indeed give them up, to protect others.[1] That being said, they also had to be at least somewhat jaded to losing others, as they were sometimes forced to sacrifice ponies for the greater good.[2] Captains organized training and made sure everything ran smoothly, but were also shown to take matters into their own hooves when their was no other choice.[1] Although the captains trained soldiers, their duties expanded far beyond simple combat, instead they had to protect their village from anything that threatened it, such as natural disasters.[1][2] Although tey were commanders and generals, captains were also shown to be extremely skilled and powerful fighters in their own right.[2]
History
During the Rockhoof of Mighty Helm and Stygian's quest stages of the Age of Heroes, the pony to bear the title of captain was Steela Oresdotter. She was considered a great, if rough, captain by many of her peers and was idolized by Rockhoof, who considered her to be a true hero and him to be merely a soldier.[2] Steela took her job seriously, and even intended on going on missions to protect the village alone, though was usually teamed up with Rockhoof regardless.[1] With the help of Rockhoof, Steela managed to save the town fro the Cherufe family who threatened it.[1]
Sometime later, Steela had to find a way to protect the village from a potential flood, which she eventually managed to avert with the help of Stygian.[2]
