Katie Cook is a writer and artist employed by IDW Publishing and writes for various IDW Published My Little Pony comics

History
Katie Cook was born in Saline, Michigan. In the early 1980s, she was obsessed with My Little Pony throughout her childhood and had many "mini-adventures" with her Baby Bonnet School of Dance Play Set, which she dubbed the "Dom Perington" of My Little Pony toys. In 2000, Katie Cook graduated from Saline High School and in 2004, she graduated from the College for Creative Studies in Detroit.

Cook did work for Marvel comics, particularly licensed material such as Fraggle Rock and contributed artwork to Star Wars through its official blog. In 2012, Katie Cook grew to enjoy the new cartoon (Friendship is Magic) and posted about it on her blog. This act got her the attention of Bobby Curnow, who asked if she would be interested in working for the IDW Publishing run for My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic. Though she admitted she was worried, given her experience prior was mostly writing short gags, Cook accepted the offer.

In 2012, she began writing for The Return of Queen Chrysalis, the first arc of the series. Katie's work as a writer was often praised and she was generally considered one of the best comedic writers for the series, sometimes even considered the best writer (though that isn't really saying much given the comics typical lackluster reception). Though she wrote long storylines, she did still write her typical story of short, 3 to 4 page long gags from time to time, with notable examples being "How Much is That Pony in the Window?", "In The Interim...", "Luna Gets a Pet", etc.

After writing The Good, The Bad, and The Pony, Cook retired from writing My Little Pony comics until 2019 where she returned to write "The Stage", a short story about herself, and later wrote for the Cosmos storyline later that year.
