His character in ''Equestria Girls'' is vastly different than his original portrayal. In ''Friendship is Magic'', despite also being a rich businessman, Rich was actually a good guy who tried (but usually failed) to instill decent morals into his daughter and her [[Silver Spoon|friend]] and generally treated other people well enough. However, in ''Equestria Girls'', he's much more ego-centric and villainous.
