After the events of the seventh season of My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic, all the ponies in the land of Equestria prepare for their first Festival of Friendship, overseen by Princess [[Twilight Sparkle (Friendship is Magic)|Twilight Sparkle]] in Canterlot. However, the festival is interrupted when monsters led by [[Tempest Shadow]] (Tempest in Latin America), a unicorn with a short horn, invade Canterlot. Tempest uses magical obsidian stones to petrify Twilight's princess sisters; [[Princess Celestia (Friendship is Magic)|Princess Celestia]] gives Princess Luna incomplete instructions to seek help from "the queen of hiccups ..." before they are both petrified.
