Hungry Volcano

The Hungry Volcano was a sentient volcano who ate Ponies. The imaginary residents of Tropical Island would throw in other ponies, typically tourist, into the volcano in order to feed it so it wouldn't erupt and destroy their tribes. This was, of course, entirely fictional and the actual volcano of Tropical Island was not alive.
