While the complete history of the foundation of Canterlot are unknown, it was shown in {{C|LOM|3|"The Legend of Mistmane"}} that the foundations of the land was actually quite benign as it resulted with a young [[Princess Luna]] actually negotiating with [[Canterlot Forest critters|the critters]] of the [[Canterlot forest (above mountain)|Canterlot forest]] to use their land.
