Equestripedia:Coverage

Equestripedia is, unsurprisingly, a My Little Pony-franchise centric wiki, though our coverage extends somewhat beyond what a casual fan my expect from us. That said, we still employ a notability policy to ensure things don't get too out of hand.

Coverage

My Little Pony fiction

We try our best to cover every aspect of My Little Pony fiction -- the films, TV shows, books, games, etc, by writing articles for the various characters, places, objects, species, etc who appear within them. This is of course a lofty goal, but it is our goal to be the most stupidly concise database of My Little Pony lore imaginable.

My Little Pony non-fiction and merchandise

Non-fiction My Little Pony media such as documentaries are covered as well (The Toys That Made Us), with all staff within them allowed articles the same as other media. Non-officially published books written by staff about My Little Pony are also covered. (My Lil Pony Tale)

We generally have articles for merchandise lines instead of individual toys and sets (Brushables), in order to keep our merchandise articles more compact. Often times for licensed merchandise, we simply have articles for the companies instead (AMNIBUS, McDonald's). Companies with more extensive toylines may have toyline specific pages as well (Funko Pop!).

Our coverage of coverage

Major news and journalistic websites, magazines, etc that have at least one article detailing My Little Pony or profiling a staff member for their work on the franchise may be added to My Little Pony in the press, an upcoming project to detail My Little Pony coverage. Less major sites can be added if they have exclusive information. Major fan sites such as Equestriadaily may have their own articles.

Companies and websites

All companies who have produced merchandise for My Little Pony can, as illustrated above, get articles. Companies that provide other services may also get articles. Storefronts that sell or stream My Little Pony media, officially, may also get articles. (Tubi, DrivethruRPG)

"Semi-official" works

On Equestripedia, we define "semi-official" works to be works that, while not published under the Hasbro label, still have some claim of 'officialness'. This usually means they were intended to be published, but never were, or more commonly, had involvement by official My Little Pony crew members.

The contents of these are usually covered as any other piece of My Little Pony, but are not to be cited on articles.

Notability

Core rule of notability

If it's a noun, it's allowed, somewhere. Named characters, places, objects, etc, are more than often allowed pages with few exceptions (see below). Unnamed characters, places, objects, etc, are allowed pages if they meet one of the following:

  • Have a speaking role.
  • Appear in at least 3 pieces of media.
  • Have some degree of in-story significance.

Very minor subjects

Even if fictional a subject hits the core tenants of notability (named, physically appearing, etc), if the subject has less than three appearances and can be concisely summed up in about three sentences, then it should likely just be merged with a larger article.

This does not apply to real-world subjects.
